Set your affections on things above
not on things on the earth
for there are the treasures to come
which have valuable worth

as mortal life echoes man’s time
temporal things don’t last
thus brief is man’s time in this life
enjoying them shall pass

it’s futile attempting to horde
as much as one attains
when there’s little time to enjoy
the pleasure from these gains

for earthly treasures are in vain
they cannot satisfy
man’s deep need for fulfilling joy
where peace down deep shall lie
____
if you then be risen with Christ
seek those things from above
His wisdom riches in glory
through God’s abiding love
____
for someday time will close in death
but that won’t be the end
eternally a life begins
when Jesus is your friend
____
and then your riches will be safe
to enjoy ever more
plus you’ll be thankful greatly so
for spiritual things you’ve stored
